ST MARGARET SCHOOL DEDICATION

Archbishop M. J. Curley, D.D. and the Priests who assembled with him at the dedication of St. Margaret School.

"The Archbishop was then in the full vigor of health and eloquence, and he gave a fitting sermon. Others in the photo are: Rev. Monsignor John Eckenrode, then pastor; Fr. Leo Otterbein, then pastor at nearby Fullerton. Fr. Arthur Slade, just ordained, a son of the parish. Fr. Howard Bishop, then at Clarksville, Md., and later founder of the Home Mission Society. Msgr. Harry Quinn, rector of the Cathedral; Msgr. Albert Smith, editor of the Catholic Review; Fr. John Fannon, pastor at nearby Bradshaw; and Fr. Joseph O'Callaghan, pastor of St. Mary's, Pylesville."
"On that occasion Archbishop Curley said, "I tell my priests and people: If you must decide whether to build a church or school, I always recommend the school first. Later the church will take care of itself." "
