  WELCOME TO THE ST. MARGARET PARISH
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM (2008-2009) 

Dear Religious Education Families,

Welcome to a new year of Faith Formation!  Please review the enclosed materials, including a letter from Msgr. Schleupner, the Parish update information form (green form) and the registration forms. We are asking you to complete the forms, mail them or drop them off at the Parish Office along with your tuition payment as soon as possible. This will expedite the registration process, allow us to keep costs down on textbooks and supplies, and honor your first preference for class time. As an additional incentive, we are offering "early bird" tuition*. This applies to all registration forms postmarked or received with payment by July 14, 2008. Please review tuition, payment information, policies, program and sacrament overviews that follow below.

A LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR

It is now time to begin the registration process for our religious education program for next year, 2008-2009. 

I believe that here at St. Margaret / St. Mary Magdalen we make the religious education and faith formation of our children a real priority.  We very much want our children and youth to have a sense of God and the Lord Jesus in their lives.  We want them to have good values and a good sense of morality and ethics for their lives.  We believe that our program strongly contributes to that goal.

I see the religious education and faith formation of your children and youth as a partnership.  The partnership includes: parents, teachers or catechists, religious education coordinators, priests, deacons, etc.  Together we can make a very positive difference.

I am asking you as parents to do four things:

• come to Mass every Sunday
• bring your children and youth to Mass every Sunday
• bring your children and youth to Religious Education class every week that it is held
• talk with your children about their classes and review the lessons with them

I promise you that we here at St. Margaret / St. Mary Magdalen will also do our part.  We will make sure that our Sunday liturgies are inspiring and nourishing. We will make sure that our religious instruction and faith formation is of the highest quality. 

I encourage you to register your children for next year's program right now.  Please try to do this before July 14, 2008 so that we can plan effectively and efficiently for the coming year.     

POLICIES  2008-2009

Parent (s) or guardian MUST be registered and actively participating at St. Margaret Parish to enroll their child / children in our Religious Education Program. Your envelope number is your account number in our database.

To register your child/children please: 
  - Fill in and submit the appropriate Religious Education registration form (Weekly Classes
       or Home Study).  See On-Site Classes and Home-Study Classes below.
  - Fill in and submit a new Parish Registration form [ available HERE ]
  - Enclose tuition payment at the time of registration. 
       Checks should be made payable to St. Margaret.

Also, please note:
   - Copies of Baptismal Certificates are required FOR ALL NEW STUDENTS at the time of registration.
   - The guidelines from the archdiocese of Baltimore require that a student MUST have regular attendance in Religious Education for one year prior to AND the year making each / any Sacrament in a Religious Education Catechesis Program or at a Catholic School.  If your child did not attend our program in the year prior to a sacrament, you must provide a transcript or letter of attendance from that church or school to be eligible to receive each / any Sacrament this year.
   - Parents are required to attend seminars before beginning the immediate preparation of their child / children for Sacraments of First Eucharist, First Reconciliation and Confirmation. Seminar dates will be published in the Sunday Bulletin.
   - No one will be denied Religious Education due to financial difficulties.  Please call Mary Ellen Bates, Business Manager for assistance (410-879-2670, ext 115).

ON-SITE  CLASSES 

There are Pre-School, Elementary, Middle School and High School on-site Religious Education Classes.  Click on the form needed, then print it for your use.

There are two home study programs, the Family Home Study Program and the Student Home Study Program. Please print the needed REGISTRATION FORM for your use.
      Forms may take a few minutes to appear depending upon the speed of your
Internet hookup. These forms are also available in the Parish Office.
