RELIGIOUS EDUCATION YOUTH MINISTRY

SACRAMENTS FOR STUDENTS

Students preparing for the Sacraments must have regular attendance
in a Religious Education Catechesis Program (or Catholic school)
one year prior to receiving the Sacrament, plus the year celebrating
the sacrament.

  • STUDENT FIRST EUCHARIST PROGRAM
     
    - Parents are required to attend a Eucharist seminar before
       preparing their child for the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist.  

    - The parent seminar date will be published in the weekly
       bulletin starting in December.

    - Please contact the Parish Office for further information.

     

  • STUDENT FIRST RECONCILIATION PROGRAM

            - Parents are required to attend a Reconciliation seminar
              before preparing their child for the Sacrament of
              Reconciliation. 

            - The parent seminar date will be published in the weekly
               bulletin. 

            -  Please contact the Parish Office for further information.

  • STUDENT CONFIRMATION PROGRAM

            - Invitations and enrollment forms are mailed in the Fall
              to students registered in the10th grade Religious
              Education Program.

            - The first Confirmation gathering is in January of the
               10th grade. The sacrament is celebrated in the
middle
               of 11th grade.

            - Seminars, liturgies, small group catechesis, a retreat
              and service are components of Confirmation
              preparation.

            - Confirmation candidates are encouraged to participate
               in a year of leadership through the Covenant.

YOUTH EDUCATION CLASSES

  
PRE-SCHOOL - A program is offered for P-3, P-4 and
        Kindergarten age children on Sunday mornings during
        the 9:00 and 10:30 AM Masses at St. Margaret
        Campus. Preschoolers increase their awareness of God
        through Scripture, songs, and crafts etc. Kindergarten
        students must be 5 years of age by September 30.
        Room assignments will be mailed home in early
        September for all those registered. 
Registration is necessary.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Grades 1-5)  -
        This is a weekly program for children which explores 
        Christian attitudes and basic doctrine. There is a choice
         of afternoon or evening classes. Classes begin in 
         September. Please check the weekly bulletin for
         date.
Registration is necessary. Room assignments will
         be mailed in early September for all registration forms
         received by the June 30th deadline. Contact 
         Marge Troilo at the Parish Office.


   
FAMILY HOME STUDY (Grades 1 - 10) - Families grow in
        faith together in the home using assigned text books, 
        scripture and sharing. Two home study programs are 
        offered.  Please consult the Home Study registration form.

        wish, print a copy for submission. Please note the due date.

    MIDDLE / HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 6-10) - All Middle School
       classes are 2-hour  sessions held twice monthly on either
       Tuesdays or Wednesdays at the St Mary Madgalen 
       Education Center, from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.  High School (9,10)
       classes meet six times a semester on either Tuesday night
       from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, or Sunday night from 5:00 - 6:45 PM
       at the St. Mary Magdalen Education Center.  All are done
       in the context of Youth Ministry and are provided to meet
       the needs of these age groups. 
Registration is necessary.


           
- Middle school students meet on Tuesdays or
              Wednesday evenings twice a month, high school 
               students meet on Sunday or Tuesday evenings also 
               twice a month.

            - Parents should plan to attend an orientation meeting. 
              Calendars, class assignments and program 
               information will be distributed at this meeting. 

    
   
CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN (CIC) - This is
        a program for  children of catechetical age (8 - 17) coming 
        into the Catholic Church. For more information please 
        contact the Department of Religious Education.


   
FAMILY LIFE (Human Sexuality) - All programs include 
        periodic catechesis on family life (human sexuality). 
        Please call the parish office if you have any questions.


   
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - This program is held 
       in July for children entering  Kindergarten - 5th
       Grade. They will explore their relationship with God 
       in a relaxed atmosphere through many activities
       including crafts and music, and other projects.


   
NURSERY SERVICE is available for infants and children
     up to the age of 3 in the Pre-school building (next to 
     St Margaret Church) during the 9:00 am and 10:30 am 
     Sunday Masses at St. Margaret Church, and during the
     9:30 and 11:00 am masses at the Mission in the new 
     Education Center. Trained staff will care for your 
     children while you attend Mass. There is no fee for 
     this service.
